‘Knapdale’ – 60' Trad - Cuttwater Boats – 2001 – lying Barbridge

‘Knapdale’ is a traditional style narrowboat built in 2001 by Cuttwater Boats and extensively re-fitted over the last few years to a high spec liveaboard well suited to off-grid living thanks to a 4 panel solar system and a bank of Lithium domestic batteries. Propulsion is provided by a Barrus Shire 40 with PRM150 gearbox. Other benefits include 2 bedrooms, a full professional re-paint in March 2022 including 2 pack hull blacking and new Caldwells tinted windows fitted at the same time.

Inside, the craft has a modern, light and airy feel but thanks to some excellent window blinds has no trouble blocking outside light when required. At which time, the under gunwale LED’s provide optional mood lighting effects.

A large forward well deck offers a generous amount of outside space and, although it is not fitted, a cratch board will be supplied with the vessel. From the bow you enter in to a large, open saloon with solid fuel stove, sofa bed and table/workstation. This then leads into a ‘C’ shaped galley with ample storage and worktop space, fridge, inset stainless sink and freestanding gas cooker with grill, oven and 4 burner hob. Moving aft, Next is the guest bedroom with a fixed double berth, overhead cupboards and storage drawers beneath the berth. Moving aft is a modern off-corridor type bathroom with storage cupboard, large ceramic handbasin, Thetford ceramic swivel cassette toilet and a large shower measuring 1.2 x 0.7 metres. At the stern is the master bedroom with fixed double berth on gas struts providing bags of storage space underneath. Further storage is provided by means of overhead cupboards and a floor to ceiling wardrobe. Furthermore, unlike many boats there is also plenty of open space at the foot of the bed for dressing etc.

‘Knapdale’ is one of those boats which all through feels like a wider boat than she is. As well as the solid fuel stove there is a Diesel central heating system which also provides hot water. She has had a recent engine service and has a BSC to October 2025.
