‘Vulcan’ – 1991 Trad Built
‘Vulcan’ is an all steel, traditional style narrowboat built in 1991 by Mike Heywood. Externally she has an excellent shape hull typical of Mike Heywood and a large foredeck providing a decent sized area for outside seating. Propulsion is provided by a 2 cylinder Lister HMP2 Diesel.
Entering from the stern takes you in to the engine bay with storage for cruising equipment etc. The engine itself is contained inside an easily accessible compartment.
Moving forward, the bathroom is next, fitted with hip bath and shower, hand basin, Porta Potti cassette toilet and various storage cupboards.
Next is the fixed double berth with a good amount of under bed storage, floor to ceiling wardrobe and several shelves.
A small ‘U’ shaped galley area provides cupboard and hanging storage, a gas 4 burner hob, gas oven, gas grill, fridge and a large sink with drainer.
At the front of the cabin is the living area with a freestanding sofa, cupboard and shelving space, table, stereo system and solid fuel stove. The solid fuel stove has a back boiler which runs radiators further down the boat. The current stove is scheduled to be replaced but if a quick buy is necessary an adjustment on the price would be acceptable to take it as is.
‘Vulcan’ had a new cratch cover fitted 2 years ago along with a new rudder bearing. The single start and 2 leisure batteries were fitted 1 year ago.
