'Hetty May' 1982 40’ Springer cruiser stern narrowboat - lying Barbridge
Hetty May – 40’ Built by Springer estimated around 1982 - £29,950
'Hetty May' is a 40’ all steel cruiser stern narrowboat built by Springer Engineering in approx. 1982. Propulsion is provided by a BMC 1.5 4 cylinder diesel engine with PRM gearbox. She was over-plated 10 years ago and the current owners have completed re-fitted the vessel including stripping back to the steelwork and treating with red oxide internally followed by 25mm Celotex insulation.
Being a live-aboard Hetty May is a very warm and homely feeling vessel. Entering from the large cruiser stern an off-corridor bathroom/wetroom is first and includes shower, handbasin, cupboard storage and Thetford cassette toilet.
Next is the fixed double berth with masses of over head and under bed storage space. Opposite the bed is a clever built in cupboard utilising the space under the gunwale. These cupboards also give easy access to ballast.
The galley is a ‘U’shape style with 12v Fridge, 230V freezer, stainless sink/drainer and freestanding gas oven, grill and 4 burner hob. A pull out cupboard maximises use of space and gives access to the freezer and gas pipes.
At the bow is the saloon with sofa which converts to another double berth, T.V and solid fuel stove. This leads out on to the well deck with cratch and cover.
'Hetty May' is a very homely feeling boat which is ready to go. She has a couple of years left on the current BSC and a survey form 2012 is available to view if required. Hot water is provided by an instant gas boiler.

Sellers Note:
"We have owned and lived happily aboard ‘Hetty May’ for the last 7 years. She has been a very comfortable home and we will be very sad to say goodbye to her as we leave for new adventures in Portugal.
Living on a boat has been a great lifestyle choice for us, we have met and become friends with some really nice people, visited many interesting places and spent many peaceful days in the heart of the countryside.
We've found that in comparison to living in a house or a flat it has been considerably less expensive and hope the following is brief outline of our relevant expenses for last year that maybe of use:
Total per annum £3299
Average per month £275
Good luck in your search for your boat and we hope that when you find your dream-boat you have as happy a time aboard as we've had.
